Reviewer Guideline
Every manuscript first passes desk review and initial manuscript evaluation by the Editorial Board. Manuscripts that pass are sent to peer reviewers (Mitra Bestari). This page describes what the journal expects from reviewers.
Before you accept
- Accept an invitation only if the topic is within your expertise and you can review in a reasonable time.
- Tell the editor promptly if you cannot review or have a conflict of interest, such as a close relationship with the authors or the community studied.
What to assess
- Fit with the aims and scope of a community service journal.
- Clarity of the problem, the community context and the approach used.
- Whether the results and conclusions are supported by the evidence presented.
- Ethical aspects: consent, permission to publish photos and data, and ethics approval where appropriate.
- Quality and accuracy of references, and the clarity of tables, figures and language.
Conduct
- Confidentiality. Treat the manuscript and your review as confidential. Do not share or use the content.
- Objectivity. Be constructive and specific, and avoid personal criticism of the authors.
- Recommendation. Give the editor a clear recommendation with reasons, and separate comments for the authors from comments for the editor.
